A few things could have happened...I would think either he went unconscious from the pain or inhaled enough smoke or fire to make him lose consciousness....also in a fire the air is super heated so if you ever catch on fire....hold your breath (unless you know your gonna die...then just suck it in and pass out lol)

i feel for those no matter how they are executed who somehow happen to be in the wrong place at the wrong time and are wrongly convicted. as much as i hate my taxes paying to keep real criminals alive in prison i would more so hate to be part of a system that mistakingly put an innocent man to death. put the convicted in a small cell, no tv or other bullshit, the minimal dietary needs and let them sit. but to take a life, especially in a cruel and painful way makes those who are killing the supposed criminal pretty much just as much of a criminal as the one they are putting to death.
