Have you seen how quickly someone can close the distance on you with a knife? She had a deadly weapon, came at him immediately, and he feared for his safety. I'm sure he had a taser on his duty belt but what if he misses with it? What if it doesn't subdue her? Then she is already in range to close the gap to stab him before he can get any other weapon out. He'd be going to a knife fight with his hands  If she did NOT have a deadly weapon then I would definitely agree that he could have used non-lethal means to end the situation. I also do think that he could have attempted some kind of first aid although I'm not sure it would have made a difference here. |
