A man, so far identified only by the nickname "The Brave Espinal", was killed after being repeatedly gored by a bull during traditional 'corralejas' festivities. He suffered a deep abdominal wound, and was reportedly pronounced dead upon arrival at hospital.

In September 2025, Colombia's Constitutional Court upheld a law banning bullfighting, cockfighting, and other animal-fighting spectacles, ruling that "culture and tradition" cannot override suffering to sentient beings.
