I was just about to comment on this phenomenon, but you have it covered.  This is likely exactly what happened and is why he wanted to be absolutely positive that she is dead. It’s cheaper and very difficult to prove intent to murder without video (and even with video, it’s still very difficult). Honestly, I feel China just doesn’t want to deal with imprisonment (unlike America) and would rather just kill the offenders, but for historically hard to prosecute cases like this, they just charge a fine and move on or kill the offender(s). This is one big reason why I’d never live in China for a long time; a year or two, but not longer. |

FFS somebody airlift these poor people some guns. Having to resort to torturing your wife to death by running her over repeatedly is just inhumane. Maybe somebody could start an online fundraiser?

I’ve become convinced that too many centuries under top-down / imposed rule of law does terrible things to human morality. There’s a sort of reversion to a more infantile moral state and in difficult or novel situations everyone just freezes up and expects ‘daddy’ government to step in and do the adulting. It’s really gross.

“Chinos” means “Chinese” in Spanish. Oh, they are ALWAYS ready to throw down, just not abroad. I saw so many fights when I was in Beijing. If you want to test it one day, go to China and stare down a random guy. |
