Re: Chinese Executions

I did a bit more digging and I think this may be Taiwan, not Singapore.
By listening to the words spoken in the execution video alone I could tell this was in northern China. That lines up with Henan, as indicated in the article.

The woman is saying in the video before her execution: “How are you going to let my child live afterwards? After you shoot me dead? I thought I wouldn't be shot dead. Do you know what my only regret is? If I had reported him earlier [??]. His death is not a loss. I don't have anything else to say.”

While she's being strapped up: “Do you want to hear the truth? China is not a "rule of law" country. It is a "rule of man" country. I committed a crime but I shouldn't be killed. I don't have anything else to say. I'm already here. I have no regrets.”

After the execution I hear "flip them over" before the chuckling.

Re: Chinese Executions

epiclulz - I understood (most of) the Chinese and even though there may be a northern accent, that still doesn't necessarily prove this was taped in mainland China.

Another question though. Have you ever seen any other government execution video about mainland China? If so, I'd love to see it.

Where else in the world would everyone speak with the same northern Mandarin accent?

The youtube channel that was linked is full of Chinese execution videos.

Re: Chinese Executions

Did you actually view those videos or just assume what their contents were? Because if you click on just the very first video, no-one is shown being executed. I'm pretty certain that all the other videos are the same.

Have you ever viewed other types of propaganda videos whether from China or other sources?

Re: Chinese Executions

And to be clear, I'm not suggesting that the other videos on that page are not from mainland China. In my opinion, they are. But as I tried to emphasize earlier,
1. there is no English on their clothing and
2. no actual executions are being broadcasted.

From a quick browse, this one doesn't show gunshots going off but it shows the bodies being carried away in body bags.

No, I don't go around specifically looking for Chinese execution videos. At least not until now.

This one shows actual executions.

Re: Chinese Executions

Yes, these videos do seem to be from the mainland from a different time in "old" China, I won't doubt that.

I still have my doubts though about the first video, because the question still remains, why is Police written in English? Not a single one of these other videos have that and I don't think I've ever seen a guard or police wear clothing like that with English on it on the mainland. That would almost certainly be a giveaway for Taiwan. And that is true even now, their police clothing has Chinese and English on it from what I've seen.

I've spent time in Taiwan. No one speaks like that in Taiwan. It wouldn't surprise me that, with a population of over a billion, some police departments on the mainland might have English writing on their uniforms.

That's true. The mainland is huge and has a ton of diversity. Since I'm really curious about this, I just did a search for 河南警察 and what do you know, the fourth video that pops up shows a police officer with Chinese and English lettering on it. So strange, I've never seen that that I can recall even in Beijing.
