Given that the US population is 355,000,000 and the Canadian "bordering" population is a measly 35,000,000, and using your own numbers, then statistically the murder rate in the US is 55 persons per million. Compared to Canada's 22 persons per million. Doesn't look like a big safety gap anymore, does it? Add to that the fact that we have outliner cities like Chicago, Atlanta and NYC which by themselves do skew the stats a lot.

Let's be clear. I have nothing against Canada, which I actually like. I am just tired of our politicians and media people, whenever a politician they don't like is voted in, or something goes bad in America, they start talking about Canada as if it was a Utopia. Canadians are people like us. Canada has racists, it has inequalities, injustices...etc. That was the point I was trying to make.

I'm dating a guy who was stabbed in the neck by a schizophrenic stranger. The more I see stuff like this the more I realize it was pure luck that he survived. I can't imagine the trauma.
