I think that is the baby's opened mouth. Interestingly, though, babies are covered in a fine hair, called lanugo, most of which falls off in the womb before birth. My daughter was born more than a month early and was still furry like a baby monkey!

I hate that they left the baby on the asphalt. I know the cord was caught, but a shirt for the baby to lie on. I would have gotten down there on my tummy, taken it in my hands and blessed it and told it to go on its journey quickly. What a rotten way to be born and die, almost simultaneously.

He wasn't playing with it. He was stimulating it's feet in an attempt to get him breathing. (its better than the "hold them upside down and spank them" thing like you see in old movies) He also tries some mild chest compressions, them observes it for movement. |
