AR-style Rifle Found in Pickup of Suspect Killed in Sherwood Tactical Situation
Remi Sabbe, 54, of Tigard, was shot and killed Friday by one or more police officers after allegedly firing from his moving vehicle At 1:34 p.m. Friday, Jan. 12, dispatch received a report of a suspicious vehicle driving in a field on a property near the intersection of Southwest Roy Rogers Road and Scholls-Sherwood Road outside of Sherwood. A Sherwood Police officer responded and attempted to contact the driver, Sabbe. According to police, Sabbe fled in the vehicle while firing multiple times and retreated deeper into the property. Members of the inter-agency Washington County Tactical Negotiations Team and Crisis Negotiation Unit Crisis were called to assist. Portions of Roy Rogers and Southwest Elwerts Road were closed during the incident. At approximately 3:30 p.m., members of the Tactical Negotiations Team contacted Sabbe and, during the encounter, fired weapons. Sabbe was hit. Officers on scene attempted life-saving measures but Sabbe died at the scene. An AR-style rifle was recovered from inside the suspect vehicle. AR rifles are semi-automatic weapons made by Colt. Detectives from the inter-agency Major Crimes Team, Washington County District Attorney's Office, Washington County Medical Examiner and forensics technicians from the Sheriff's Office Forensics Science Unit responded to the scene. King City, Sherwood, Tigard, and Tualatin Police assisted during the incident. The involved deputies are on administrative leave per agency protocol. Their names will be released at a later date. Oregon court records show that Sabbe pleaded guilty to reckless driving in 1993, and to driving under the influence of intoxicants in 2008. Sabbe has no record of violent offenses in Oregon. |

Ok, not cool, I call "do-overs". Who said that the good guys could come rollin in with an armored vehicle and tactical advantage. This is the reason so many inbred hillbillies never see 55.

Wow. Suspect was not firing at police. He was in a field, not around civilians. He was not trying to flee. They executed this bastard. I commanded soldiers that captured high profile suspects. These wannabe's murdered this guy. I hope the hell they lose their uniforms. I support law enforcement in general, but you...and I mean you all, don't want this type of law enforcement on our streets. No reason what so ever to shoot this guy like they did. |
