200 recorded rider deaths in the Isle of Man TT since 1910. That's averaging more like 2 racer deaths per year. Needless to say that track isn't very forgiving.

You could be right too, I just don't think automatically blaming the rain is fair. Lots of races are ran in conditions like these across the motorsports world - some like it, some don't. It's almost a different skill set. The fact the rest of the riders make it fine on a straightaway suggests to me that it wasn't the rain. Antonelli's inexperience overall in rain races might have been the problem. It's not common for bikers in almost any conditions in these races to lose it on a straightaway.

The only issue with the rain here was that the rider who hit him probably didn't see him till it was too late. I'm sure on a clear track, he would have been able to spot him early enough to swerve out of the way. It is what it is. RIP Antonelli.

The rider was Lorenzo Zanetti and he is fine. Most of time, unless the riders are struck by another bike, they walk away from most incidents like this because of all protective gear they wear. I've personally ate shit at triple digits at the track and walked away with nothing more than a bruised ego and sore body thanks to gear.
