Reason we DON'T do that is because of the off chance, the less than 1% chance, that the person could actually be completely innocent of the crimes they are convicted of. There are people who have been on death row for decades and ultimately been exonerated.

I’m fully aware that we live with “Law and Order” in the US. I would still like to see half of the entire prison population euthanized. Even with a less than 1% chance of anyone being innocent I’d still vote to clean up our prison system by emptying our “overcrowded” prisons and not with an early release.
