I'm pro law enforcement, but this have been handled much differently. Especially when they saw he was possibly asleep. I also found it interesting that the first shot made a ping sound... like it hit his bb gun first. You can see both his hands fly away from the gun. |

If I'm playing Captain Hindsight here: The only thing I could find wrong here is planning/coordination. If they planned on using a less than lethal, there should have been a clean understanding that Sgt So-and-So would shoot first, and if it continued to escalate, then live fire. I've seen first hand what a rubber bullet pounding can do, and it'll stop a guy pretty damn good. I guess I'd have to have been there in the situation itself with all the knowledge of that department to be able to pass real judgment tho. In any case, it falls back on the "play stupid games get stupid prizes" category. If fucko complied, he'd probably not be filled with bullets...assuming that isn't what he wanted anyways. Also, I'm sure we lost a model citizen. |

So what do you suggest they do once they approach him from behind? Arrest him? For what? They confront him to assess the situation with nothing more than what the dispatcher received from the complainant. Had he complied, he wouldnt have gotten smoked. The guy was nuts or he wanted to die. Either way, the responding cops did what they should have done with what they knew at the moment.
