Someone put the title right. These are not ant-Ahmadists being beaten, but Ahmadists. They are persecuted wherever they happen to be because their founder, Mirza Ghulam Ahmad, dared to say he was also a prophet. For that reason, they are considered to be heretics, and it is God's work to kill them.

Even without religion there would still be power hungry people,
whom who undoubtedly be creating more violence regardless.
Religion is just another tool used to gain control and power.
Theres always good ol' plain n' simple oppression to take it's place..
