A 78-year-old man shot and killed one of the criminals who intercepted him to rob him when he arrived at his home in the Buenos Aires district of La Matanza.

The victim of the attempted robbery, an Italian national, had parked his pickup truck when a white 4x4 vehicle abruptly stopped and at least three assailants got out to assault him.

At that moment, the man took his weapon, a .357 caliber Smith pistol, and shot one of the criminals, killing him at the scene. The rest of the criminals immediately fled the scene, with the old man getting out of his pickup to continue shooting at them.

The prosecutor assigned to the case has confirmed that the old man will not be prosecuted, as the teenager's death was an obvious case of self-defence. The other criminals remain in the wind.
