75 Year Old Cyclist Passes in Front of Truck and Gets Crushed to Death
A traffic accident involving a red Volvo truck and a cyclist was recorded late yesterday afternoon at around 4:26 pm in Brazil. The trucker stopped at the intersection, to wait for 3 motorcycles. As he waited for traffic to pass, he recognized 2 people who were on the corner talking and he greeted them. A cyclist did not realize that the truck driver would cross the avenue and ended up passing in front of the truck. Because the truck cabin was high and the truck was noisy/loud, the trucker did not see or hear the cyclist that was passing in front of him and ended up running over it. Not even the people who were talking on the corner saw the moment when the cyclist passed in front of the truck. The Fire Department was activated and when arriving at the place, found that the victim was already dead. The Military Police were in the place isolating the accident area, until the arrival of the Civil Police, that triggered the Official Skill and Technical Identification Team, to determine the causes of the accident. The trucker was sent to the Civil Judicial Police, to be heard, and has to respond for manslaughter, with no intention to kill. The victim was identified as M.R.d.S., 75 years old. His body was sent to a local funeral home, where funeral procedures will be carried out. |

Re: 75 Year Old Cyclist Passes in Front of Truck and Gets Crushed to Death
Let’s ride in front of a truck, going against traffic, as close to it as humanly possible and out of line of sight of the driver. What could go wrong? |

Re: 75 Year Old Cyclist Passes in Front of Truck and Gets Crushed to Death
Wouldn't have made a difference. At those speeds, the truck CAN stop on a dime. The problem is that the cyclist passed too close in front of the truck, and was not visible to the driver.
