The head of the Mexico City Government indicated that the number of people dead has increased to 23, while 65 are hospitalized in various medical units in the country. It occurred on the night of Monday, May 3, 2021 when a beam supporting a bridge of line 12 between Olivos and Tezonco stations collapsed. The structure over which the Line 12 subway was running collapsed and two of the carriages plummeted onto an avenue full of vehicles at 22:20 local time (03:20 GMT on Tuesday, May 4). Neighbors in the area immediately criticized on social networks the repeated complaints they have been making about the poor condition of the structure that was damaged in the last major earthquake Mexico City suffered in September 2017. "Unfortunately what happened was the expiration of a trabe (beam) to the passage of a convoy, all investigations will be made to know the causes that led to this accident," said the head of the Government of the capital |

The accident occurred when a concrete girder that supported the tracks collapsed as a train was passing.  |
