Re: 2 Workers Killed in Construction Accident in Queens NY
That would be a wire sling, used for lifting rough or sharp steel loads. Could well be old and fucked. I worked offshore for 23 years, safety was super serious for the last 20 or so. Lifting was a major thing focused on, so I'm sure it will be somewhat serious in the construction industry too. |

Re: 2 Workers Killed in Construction Accident in Queens NY
We need more USA videos, getting tired of those shitty third world countries. Poor construction workers, I work in petrochemical plants in houston so this is something that hits close to what I work in.

Beggars can't be choosers. I would like to see more content from the US as well but we have too many SJW and lawsuits. People were complaining about pictures of the recent school bus crashed that killed 9 kids. They were saying how disrespectful it was to post pictures of the bus. So yea a post like this is truly a rare thing.

Re: 2 Workers Killed in Construction Accident in Queens NY
Here's an update... According to authorities, Ramos was standing on top of a 6,500-pound steel beam being hoisted in the air by crane operator George Smith during renovations on a 81-10 135 St. apartment building around noon last Tuesday. That’s when the rigging strap connecting the crane to its load snapped, with both the massive piece of steel and Ramos falling to the ground. The beam landed on Ramos and Smith —a Brooklyn resident who was inside the operator’s cab of the crane — killing them. “The Department of Building’s preliminary review showed that the beam that fell had been lifted into place when the rigging strap connecting the beam to the crane snapped,” DOB Commissioner Rick Chandler said in a statement. “The position of the crane load does not appear to have shifted during this time and it is unlikely that wind played a role in this incident. DOB’s investigation is ongoing and at the conclusion of our review we will vigorously pursue all appropriate enforcement actions related to this tragedy.” The agency immediately issued a full stop-work order at the site, which was still in effect as of press time on Wednesday, to allow the investigation to continue uninterrupted. |
