Re: 2 Men Drowned in New York
Thank you. Sick of reading ignorant comments that the only people who drown are those who aren't strong swimmers.

Re: 2 Men Drowned in New York
From what I saw that precious piece of wood was quite bouyant. If the 2nd guy would have swam directly to it and manuevered it back to the drowning dude they both would be alive. |

These drowning videos are really disturbing. He should’ve stuck to that piece of wood, which the above poster said, appeared buoyant enough.

Re: 2 Men Drowned in New York
I think this all happened so quickly no one really had any time to think of a workable plan. Easy when you’re watching, but struggling in water with an undercurrent and someone dragging you under, your options and decisions become limited.

This is like 20 minutes from me. Most people around here have the common sense not to play in the Niagara River because of undertow currents, people die in that river all the time. |

Re: 2 Men Drowned in New York
Worth mentioning here a public information film I saw in the cinema a couple of weeks back from the RNLI. It came on during the trailers. It gave advice on what to do if you find yourself in water. Instead of splashing and struggling to swim, relax, make a star shape and float on your back, saving your energy. Easier in salt water I guess but it could be useful to know. Again, in that situation I think it’s easier said than done but worth having in your mind. |

Jeez how does that happen. Backfloat and chill. No current pulling them. Just their own weight. Black people need to tune into nature more lol fr
