Re: 1961 Horrific Driver's Education Film: Mechanized Death
BTW, there is a long, sordid story behind the producer of these films, which include Wheels of Tragedy, Red Asphalt, Signal 30, Child Molester, and so on. The guy was a closeted homosexual, who was friendly with state troopers at the Wooster and Ashland Ohio posts. They called him when a fatality was reported, and he went with his video camera -- often before paramedics or fire departments arrived. The gay part is relevant to his story since he lent and set up his video equipment for the Mansfield PD to set up stings of gay men engaging in tearoom sex in a public restroom in downtown Mansfield, Ohio. This film is called Camera Surveillance. Since I am originally from that area, our school showed a lot of these films, including Child Molester, which we had to watch in 1st grade in the school cafeteria. It haunted me for decades. And it was real footage, like all their films.

He may have wearing gloves, but I was referring that he wasn't wearing a surgical/procedural mask. If he was a coroner, then I figure that's OK. If he's a surgeon, ewwwwww. |

Re: 1961 Horrific Driver's Education Film: Mechanized Death
I knew about the notorious Camera Surveillance (which I saw) but didn't know that the producer of these "educational" films was a closeted gay man. Thanks for the info. Here's another related story you guys may or may not know. The equally infamous educational film The Child Molester (1964) - directed by the guy who went on to make British horror films like It (1966) and The Frozen Dead (1967) - is based on a real case of some creep that stomped two little girls to death after exposing himself to them. You can see crime scene photos of the their poor little corpses at the end of the otherwise dramatization The Child Molester. But here's the interesting part - the real life guy who murdered the two little girls told detectives about the tea room featured in Camera Surveillance which eventually started the whole thing of them setting up cameras there.

They won't show this sort of stuff on TV nowadays, as it may offend some delicate little precious thing and cost a fortune for the necessary counselling required to sort people out when they have seen real life close up.

Re: 1961 Horrific Driver's Education Film: Mechanized Death
Saw Camera Surviellance at NCTC at the Branch in 1974. Cameraman was hid in the public restroom on the square in Mansfield. Sacked up a councilman if I remember correctly. There is a neat autopsy vid of the coroner carving up a stiff blonde that was shot six times that was shown to the cops taking criminal investigations. Brings back memories. Small world having so many people near Mansfield on this thread. Maybe a candidate for the city of sick fucks. Hehehe. |
