Re: Woman "shapes" Her Foot
No way, its a deformity at best... There is now way should could have folded her toes UNDER her feet, also the heal (spelling) is shaped oddly enough to resemble some kind of surgery to repair the foot or to make one out of whatever she had there at the start. She prob got her foot malled or blown to bits and the docs did their best to fix the situation. Show us pics of the other foot or those shoes...

Ahhh, I'm dumb enough to see the shoes now... Anyways she looks old-school russian from the countryside (siberia? or Kazakastan?) Anyways I got a russian friend from siberia that could definitely shed light on this if it is indeed a practice of some sort... Cool post though

Perkdaddy is that you in your avatar pic? you're cute..Anyways this is an old tradition in China, were the women had their feet bind from a young age as they believed they would have a better chance of finding a good husband if they had tiny feet. It was extremely painful and I believe it is now banned..I read an article about ti once in a magazine... |

Re: Woman "shapes" Her Foot
Quite right. The practice of foot-binding is an ancient Chinese status symbol. The practice is derived from a particular province known for their beautiful dancers with tiny feet (i forget which province). The practice is in reality extremely painful for the women who undergo it (as it involves manually breaking the arch of the foot) and even more painful to try and reverse later in life. When the practice was banned and women were forced to undo their bindings permanently, many died from the severe pain (or more likely committed suicide). It always amazes me to see what humans are willing to do in the name of beauty (or in this case, status).
