What if my baby is breech near the end of my pregnancy?

Most breech babies are born by caesarean, but before you get to that stage it may be possible to turn your baby head down.

Some mums-to-be try natural methods to encourage their baby to turn. Your doctor or midwife should also offer to refer you for an appointment at the maternity unit to try to turn your baby to a head-down position. This manual procedure is called external cephalic version (ECV).

ECV is usually offered from 36 weeks for a first baby and from 37 weeks if you've had a baby before.

ECV is not recommended for all women. For example, if you've had vaginal bleeding recently or you are expecting twins or more, it would not be safe to try it.

ECV is more likely to work if, for example, you've given birth previously or you have plenty of amniotic fluid.

Sometimes, however, a baby refuses to budge, or rotates back into a breech position (persistent breech presentation).

I doubted, but now I believe. I'm not watching that video, though. I know it's supposed to be beautiful and all that(childbirth), but I ain't watching!! The pics were bad enough for me!
