A Weird Growth on My Dog. Any Insight?

When I first saw it, it looked like another small paw pad was growing below the bigger one further up on her arm. A few days later it looked like it has burst open, almost in a flower type shape. The skin was hard at the edges and began falling off. ANOTHER small one appeared next to the first growth. After a couple weeks, it completely disappeared! Super weird. Everything that I looked up pointed to hyperkeratosis. I didn't get a chance to get her into the vet before it vanished.

If the dog is kept in a crate the pads grow thicker, so it might be from that?

We don't crate our pups. It's weird how quickly it appeared then resolved itself.

Possible histiocytoma

I saw that when I was researching, and it didn't visually fit the description. The tissue was hard and resembled another paw pad, before it burst open.

they can do that, seen literally thousands of them. they can actually disappear. they can wax and wane. some are hard like a nodule, some are soft like are skin tag. Some times they get torn open by accident and can bleed like a stuck pig. Just dont look like a hyperkeratosis or could be hemangioma but those dont go away, without physically seeing it..just an educated guess on this side of the monitor.

oh, if it was to remain...usually a steroid shot can get rid of them them, if not, surgical intervention is needed.

It didn't bleed at all when it broke open. My son has a hemangioma. Not sure how it would look on a dog, but her lump looked nothing like what my son has.

Re: A Weird Growth on My Dog. Any Insight?

My advice would be to take it to your vet... and get it put down.
