I've had my tongue pierced for about 9 years and I've NEVER EVER had a single problem with it. I've never got an infection or chipped a tooth, and I've never known anyone else who has. I think that's actually pretty rare. If it was more likely than not to have a problem with it, no one would get it done.

would hate to be the emergency anaesthetist who has to tube that patient.... they would probably sue if it was tore out while trying to get their airway open all because it becomes fashion to place metal in silly places... whats next? nails in your skull cos its cool? and yes i have my ears pierced would love my eye brow pierced too but i would not like a piercing anywhere that will obstruct my airway in a emergency cos i know the anaesthetists are not gentle while shoving a tube down ya gob!
