Re: Users of the Drug Krokodil

About two days ago, I heard about a talk show segment on WWL Radio about a spike in heroin deaths down here in Louisiana that were being attributed to things like unpredictable purity and I-10's function as a major drug highway carrying traffic out of Mexico. I'm beginning to wonder if maybe krokodil is what they were talking about, but they just didn't know the difference.

Re: Users of the Drug Krokodil

It's too bad methadone is illegal is Russia because I'm willing to bet many of the homebaked desomorphine ('krokodil') would try to get clean after losing a limb.

The problem is that the cravings are so intense + the withdrawal is pure agony for a few days - and so, since there is no methadone maintenance programs... they go back to using to avoid withdrawal.

At least with a methadone program, the drug is pure, and you don't have to worry about the possibility that you won't be able to find any. With that out of the way, it can be used to taper the patient while said patient attempts to pick up the pieces of whatever life they had.

Methadone saved my life. I tried and tried everything, over 50 detoxes, AA and NA, many 1/2 way houses, 3/4 houses, TC's and even had myself thrown in jail and nothing worked. Finally went on the clinic and have been clean for 14 years. Finally able to lead a normal life after over 20 years of pure hell.

Re: Users of the Drug Krokodil

I had been battling heroin off and on .. never have I seen anything like this.... I never even heard of it....

but I always kept myself healthy other than the heroin... ate good, worked out, vitamins, I was lucky, I never was out on the street....I escaped with my health intact... now I just gotta wean off the suboxone but that's not a big concern right now....

Re: Users of the Drug Krokodil

I just read wiki on this... the addicts started using this because it was getting near impossible to find heroin in Russia.... it had nothing to do with opiate receptors being loaded.. that's ridiculous... yes, after awhile you just use to not withdrawal unless you can afford to use more, than believe me, you'll keep getting high...

apparently a lot of OTC drugs in Russia have codeine in it and this crocodile shit is easy to manufacture with household and OTC products.... I guess its comparable to crystal meth, and that drug rots you from the inside out...

this crocodile stuff only lasts like 60-90 minutes... why even bother... they must have suboxone in Russia, and that's a better bet than methadone anyway... I was on meth for 2 years than switched to subs.....

just thought I would add this...
