I know everyone has their limits on what they can handle and what they can't, but Down's syndrome isn't a death sentence. I know a few people with it and they have way better work ethic than I do  Just my take on it.

It's not, it's just that people have their limit of what they can take care of and what they can't. If this was a couple with little money, they probably didn't feel it was fair to bring a child into this work with a medical issue, for example. Depending of my financial and emotional abilities, I probably would or wouldn't bear a child with medical issues. |

my grandson was larger, 22 weeks, but his brain was nearly gone from water on the brain. my son and DDiL chose to abort. we will never forget him. when i woke up on Christmas Eve morning, i realized that he would have been a year old and i began crying. i could not stop for an hour.

I dont believe in abortion unless under extreme circumstances and depending on time of abortion. Downs not exactly a bad thing but depending on the degree,I couldnt do it either and one had it right that many struggling families are just not stable enough to do it.I know you probably shouldnt have kids if you are not stable,truth is how many of us are? We seem to be fine, a healthy baby is one thing. I will say this though our high school basket ball team got our asses kicked by another "special" school all having down syndrome. I played and believe me, they can run some ball. Though it was a joke until they mopped the floor with us. Much respect!  |

Just a thought, would it still be a murdered child if the possible medical issue was a death sentence? Or the medical issue was actually the mom who would die if she carried to term? Just a thought...
