All of the pictures (except the last) are from this year's Kin Che festival in Phuket, Thailand.

Some background info about the festival: Thailand's “Kin Che" is an annual vegan festival held in the ninth lunar month based on the Chinese calendar. It starts on the first day of the waxing moon and lasts for 9 days. The festival is mostly celebrated by Thai-Chinese.

The main reasons are to cut down on the number of animals killed for food and to cleanse the body and mind. No meat, no dairy, no pungent spices or foods like garlic, onions, and no alcohol. This year (2015) Kin Che festival is from Oct 12-20th

Self-Mutilation Practices during the Festival
Number of participants called mah song do self-mutilation practices; such as sticking swords through their cheeks and walking bare feet on hot charcoal. Each ‘mah’ song invites a God to possess his body. Then, he performs the self-mutilation without feeling any pain. The spectators pay homage to the gods, that possess the bodies of the mah song, by lighting firecrackers when the mah song walk past.

I could picture myself having joined in on this back around 2002-2003..
Was big into piercings/tattoos at the time.

Was getting pierced all over the place. Spetum,nipples,etc. Was considering suspension even. (no one around my area was that far into the shit... luckily for my back/chest..)

I like how the fake guns have hypodermic bevels like a syringe/piercing needle on the end of the barrels.
