Re: Skin Grew Over Ring Finger
I know that it's common to wear the wedding ring on the right hand in Germany. One of my best friends is from there, and she and her husband (he's American, and they married here) "argue" about which hand she should wear her ring on.

Re: Skin Grew Over Ring Finger
A 44-year-old woman was brought to hospital by police. Over a period of years she had isolated herself and her daughter from society, arousing the concern of neighbors. A scant history of “schizophrenia”, personality disorder and intellectual disability was obtained from distant relatives. Examination revealed classic clinical features of profound hypothyroidism. In addition, a lump was found on the patient’s ring finger (Box 1, A). Her mental state necessitated admission, after a psychiatric consultation, as an involuntary patient. Investigations confirmed the diagnosis of hypothyroidism and indicated anemia due to iron deficiency (Box 2). An x-ray of the lump (Box 1, B) revealed a wedding ring totally encased in the soft tissue. The patient was started on thyroxine and anti psychotic medication and transferred to a psychiatric institution, with marginal improvement in her mental state. Her daughter was removed to the care of child welfare authorities. The wedding ring was surgically removed. Histopathological examination of the lump revealed a foreign body granular with chronic low-grade Staphylococcus aureus infection. |

Re: Skin Grew Over Ring Finger
I have a bad habit of removing rings when I wash my hands. I got two back for several years. About two years ago, my luck ran out and someone stole them from a public ladies room at a comedy show :( They weren't worth a fortune, but, I had the one set to my liking with an emerald cut pale blue sapphire and two princess cut tsavorites and the other a size 4 1/4" diamond band. When I thanked whomever the bitch was who took them on facebook, a friend replied, "Are you still doing that?" |
