Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS)

Thanks for sharing this. At age 20 I had a watermelon sized cyst removed from my fallopian tube. I have to regularly get checked for cysts due to the PCOS but luckily I've been cyst free ever since. My mom has a picture from the surgeon of my cyst before they drained it but I'll have to locate it.

Re: Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS)

This seems to be pretty common.

Seems like ovaries are in need of a running design change.

And now, with my endometriosis as bad as it is, I am getting paranoid and want my GYN to order an ultrasound STAT

When I was diagnosed I had one the size of an orange, that was bad enough! Excruciating. I rarely get them now, seemed the worst time for me was late teens early 20s. I had a Laparoscopy for diagnosis, but thankfully never had any of the procedures shown here.....ouch.

Re: Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS)

I had just a tiny 1.3cm cyst burst on my ovary a few years back. It was enough to send me to the ER, ironically the next time I was in the ER because it felt like a burst cyst it was just really horrible cramps and they dosed me with morphine... When I actually did have cysts, they gave me nothing.

Re: Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS)

I got rushed to the er from school in 8th grade after one popped. My symptoms were mirroring a burst appendix so I almost went in for surgery for that. "Thankfully" it was just a cyst that popped. They noticed both ovaries were covered in them. Not the best feeling in the world.

That's exactly how mine was discovered...I thought it was my appendix.

Re: Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS)

The doctor told me that due to the size, if my cyst had popped before surgery I would have died in 20 minutes. I was happy to have the surgery! And I have about a 6 inch scar under my navel from it. Going into surgery they didn't know where it was attached and if they could drain it. If they had to fully remove it I would have had a scar from my pelvis to my sternum. crazy to think about!
