Pain in the Neck

Cause by some form of infection/growth hanging one of my molars. Been treating it with sea salt and jamming it back with a spoon. Can't open my mouth wide enough to shovel food in, this might be a blessing in disguise.

Re: Pain in the Neck

Have a dentist to look at it, these infections might spread rapidly and it may not end well...

Re: Pain in the Neck

I've had that before, is a food flap. Something got in to the gum behind your tooth. If you're lucky they'll just scalpel off the inflamed gum and give you six needles to do it, and some antibiotics to take home.

I have all four wisdom teeth in, in order to solve my food flap problem and make sure I didn't get any serious abscess or other infection my dentist used a scalpel to remove the overhanging gum line and dug out any and all decaying matter behind my wisdom teeth.

That, however, is not a good sign - that you can't eat. I would definitely go get that looked at before you look like a noma patient.

Re: Pain in the Neck

Also, the worst thing you can do is jam it with a spoon. I don't know why you'd think that's reasonable, but it doesn't work. If you want to try to deal with it at home, use something made of surgical steel to scoop out what ever is back there causing the infection, that's what I do and my body doesn't mine. Hopefully you're not too far gone.

FYI (and a good reminder): I'm not a fucking doctor, dentist or otherwise, sooo go see the doc (preferably the one that deals with all things mouth related).

Re: Pain in the Neck

I sure hope you went to a dentist. Any time you have a growth anywhere you need to have it checked out.

Poking that with a spoon only makes it 10x worse... 10x faster.

Yeah, unfortunately seeing a dentist isn't really possible.

Re: Pain in the Neck

Ah shit, I had one of those on my upper wisdoms. In my case it wasn't an infection or anything just some gum tissue that'd expanded over it since it hadn't grown in all the way and was making life pretty sucky. A trip to the dentist's will sort that all out , good luck!
Oh and yeah, don't use a spoon or anything harsh on it, mouthwash it vigorously and use a very soft toothbrush to scrape any food out from under it.

Re: Pain in the Neck

Try using some floss, then gargle with your sea salt. Do that at least twice a day.
