No healthy? Being that I'm not a medical professional, and don't know what healthy lungs look like, I wouldn't make a statement like that. Besides, if these were diseased lungs, it'll be kind of stupid for the doctors to put them into another person. |

AFAIK, with transplants, it is often a matter of making a suitable match between donor and recipient. If you have a superbly healthy organ that is not a good match and then rejects, you probably will have ended up killing the recipient. If you use a less healthy organ that does not reject, then you have given the recipient some kind of "fighting" chance. Also, the "perfect" match is not always available and you might have to "take what you can get". Disclaimer: I am not a doctor, nor do I play one on TV. |
