My Hip Replacement
I had a total hip replacement done in June 2015. I've been looking for the disk that had my x-rays on it ever since I joined the site and finally dug them up so here you go. This is the third surgery I've had on my left hip. I was born with congenital hip dysplasia and I had my first reconstructive surgery when I was five, my second reconstructive surgery when I was 20, and my last surgery, the THR, when I was 31. I was hoping that the replacement would fix all the problems I was having but I was mistaken. If it did anything it made it worse… I might need to have another minor surgery to release my IT band in order to relieve some of the pain that I get radiating down my left side. Other than that, hopefully I won't have to get another major surgery for at least 30 years. |

Re: My Hip Replacement
you know I have found it very interesting how females are 80 % more likely to develop DDT than males and that is normally presented on the left side. do you know if, in your case, it developed in the womb(breech) or was it the whole hormonal/relaxin thing? btw you are a real trooper to deal with this affliction. I know 2 brothers who are affected by DDT and they have been subjected to many corrective surgeries with very little improvement in pain management if any.

Re: My Hip Replacement
I'm not sure what caused it (not breech birth though), but I know I was misdiagnosed for 5 years because I presented with knee pain, as most females do. I would have been fixed with leg braces if they had caught it in time but when they finally did the bone of the socket was very degraded and required major reconstructive surgery.
