M.S. Sucks!
In the tradition of Sharon's openess about her issues, I thought I'd share pics of my interferon shot routine. They are intramuscular (hence the needle length) injections that I do once a week. The little spot of blood is a hesitation spot. Today was my first time doing a thigh and I was nervous. The first time I did one (this is my fourth shot) it was in my shoulder and I hit bone. The purpose of the shots is to slow the formation of new lesions in the myelin sheeth lining my brain, spinal cord, and nerves. If these shots aren't effective then I will have to switch to a once a month infusion of stuff called Tysabri. I really don't want to have to do that. I don't mind IV's at all, but my veins are TINY and I'm running out of ones they can use in my hands/arms so they want to use my feet. |

Re: M.S. Sucks!
If it's a med you would have to get every month IV, why don't you ask about getting a chest port? They surgically place it under the skin on your chest and then they access it with a special needle when they need it. I accessed one today at work. You should look into it!!
