Jyoti Amge With Achondroplasia in Nagpur, India, 2008
Jyoti Amge was 14 when she was photographed at school and at home in Nagpur, India, in spring 2008. Born December 16, 1993, she has achondroplasia, a form of dwarfism. Contemporary measurements placed her height at about 23 inches and her weight at 11 pounds. Guinness World Records recognized Amge as the shortest living female teenager in 2009, when she measured 61.95 centimeters.
