sad...but I don't understand how you can be starving up to the brink of death..yet still have the energy to have sex and get pregnant? How do these people have the energy or desire to have sex when they're starving???

Their bodies have adapted to the extreme conditions that they live in. The more babies that are born, the better chance that some will survive to carry on the race. you see it all the time in the animal kingdom
