Re: Girl Born Without Bones
She has a rare disease called Hypophasphatasia. Hypophosphatasia is a inborn metabolic disorder of the bones characterized by skeletal defects resembling those of rickets. The symptoms result from a failure of bone mineral to be deposited in young, uncalcified bone (osteoid), and in the cartilage at the end of the long bones (epiphyses) during early years. The activity of the enzyme alkaline phosphatase in blood serum and bone cells is lower than normal. Urinary excretion and blood plasma concentrations of phosphoethanolamine and inorganic pyrophosphate are abnormally high. Unlike other forms of rickets, Hypophosphatasia does not respond to treatment with vitamin D. More info here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hypophosphatasia |

Re: Girl Born Without Bones
Or a brain. Fucking horrible creatures. That's even if you can even classify them as a creature though. Most of them are basically just a multi celled organism loaded with toxins that can float around, completely fuck entire eco-systems (take the case of the giant jellyfish invasion of Japan) and physically fuck you up pretty bad, AND THEY'RE 95% WATER! Imagine if they evolved to be able to come on land. They would literally take over the world like Kang and Kodos off the Simpsons. Strangely fascinating at the same time though. Anyway, yeah, that little girl.... Awww :-( Get well soon. Or grow bones soon... whatever. |

Re: Girl Born Without Bones
Such a pretty little girl. Looks like she is handling it well in the photos anyway. Keep up the good work...very interesting though...watch mystery diagnosis all the time. Must have missed the episode that featured this.
