My spazzy left leg and foot means a walking problem when wearing sandals thus therefore causing blisters so deep, they draw blood. Trainers/Converse are too hot. Flip-flops are a definate no-can-do so my 'coolest' option in summer is ickle socks with my sandals. Least they are quality North Face trekking ones so there's a bit of street cred there.

The Germans certainly approve as they do it. Hell, they even wear socks with Crocs

The Germans call them Jesus-latschen (Jesus-sandals) I believe and if Jesus had them, they are definately good enough for you!

I came across a very interesting pic on flip-flops too, while searching for the slippers.

Neolithical ones, 5-6000 BC and Incan flip-flops 1500 AD.

Your feet usualy aren't excactly the same size. One foot is bigger than the other. That's why it's perfectly normal to have one shoe fit perfectly, while you get blisters in the other!
