It is according to which strain is contracted. The actual mortality rate of the four strains is 53%-88%. When I first started medical school, I was infactuated with the Ebola virus and wanted to study at the CDC in Atlanta. After more studying, I decided I wanted to work in trauma/ER instead!!

highly unlikely he caught it off a cell phone unless it was coated in blood or fluids and he had a cut on his ear or pressed it to a cut on his body...open air kills viruses really quick...also no such thing as 100% fatal...there will always be some that are either immune or recover from it...still bad disease

That's why I was so happy when cell phones first became available, even though they were very expensive. You can never tell what is on some pay phones! All kinds of nasty shit. I wouldn't touch my face with it and washed my hands afterwards, if I had to use one! I'd yell in to the receiver. |

you might want to recheck you facts before quoting numbers like that Ebola has an actual case-fatality of 25-85% depending on the species. There are 5 species or subtypes of Ebola virus with varying associated case-fatality ratios which are recognized: Ebola Zaire, 85%; Ebola Sudan, 55%; Ebola Bundibugyo, 25%; Ebola Cote d'Ivoire, 0% (only one recognized case); Ebola Reston 0% (not pathogenic to humans). All are endemic to sub-Saharan Africa, with the exception of Ebola Reston virus, which is found in the Philippines.
