Dog Attack

On September 28th An Arlington, Texas, man lost both of his ears after he was attacked by two dogs. The dogs were likely pit bulls.

The man, identified as M. S, 58, was out walking Wednesday when the dogs attacked. A neighbor who heard the man screaming called police, who, upon arrival, reportedly saw the man being mauled, local news station CBS 11 reported.

One officer struck the dogs -- believed to be adult pit bulls, one male and one female -- with a weapon. Eventually, they successfully pulled the dogs off the man.

M.S. was rushed to the hospital with serious injuries.

“He lost both of his ears. His nose was partially torn off and his bottom lip was partially torn off,” Omar, M.S’s nephew, told the news.

Officials with the Arlington Police Department are now conducting an investigation into the incident and are searching for the dogs’ owners. Authorities told CBS 11 the male pit bull, which weighed an estimated 80 pounds, was gray with “cropped ears” and “appeared to have chain marks (scars) around [his] neck as if he had been chained up.”

The female, which was brown and also had cropped ears, weighed roughly 55 pounds and “appeared to have previously had a liter(s) of puppies,” authorities said, according to the news station.

Re: Dog Attack

Great post

All of these 'pit bull attack' posts really should be made into a pamphlet of some sort and handed out to the dog owners who swear blind that their precious pooch would 'never hurt a fly' to raise some awareness.

I can practically hear the doggo crowd bashing away at their keyboards in indignant fury right now, how long before the old 'its not the dog, it's the owner' argument gets dragged out yet again?
When did a Chihuahua, a poodle, a pug do something like this? Yes, some owners mistreat their dogs and make them unstable, but no matter how irresponsible a person, a dog with a pedigree of gentle temperament will rarely launch a sustained attack at random.

Dogs bred to be vicious will be vicious, it's their nature not their fault, that said though, they have no place in modern society.

Re: Dog Attack

A couple of years ago, my lab went on a warpath and attacked my sisters dog. A lab and he is a pure breed. He was dragging the other dog around my backyard by the scruff of the neck. I have had him for around 6 years at the time and he had never shown any aggression before this time. I still to this day do not know what provoked my lab but he has never done anything like that again. One of my other dogs is a boxer/lab mix and he doesn't like too many people. I think that his problem us that he is scared of most people. He was abused before I adopted him. He was shot twice with a pellet gun and stabbed, which would make me not like too many people either.

I've either read or heard somewhere that the most dangerous dog is a fearful one, this maybe what happened in some of these cases. Many dogs are abused to make the either mean or fearful.

But I thought pitbulls were bred to be playthings for toddlers?

Re: Dog Attack

sounds like they were hungry lol

I love my 2 pitties
it is rather ironic one should ask what a chihuahua has ever done yet in reality, they top lists as one of the worst breeds to have. Whereas the American Staffordshire rarely if at all makes an appearance on the same lists.
I also have a chihuahua who is the alpha between my 70lb pits

Re: Dog Attack

I used to volunteer at an animal shelter. We had at least one chihuahua a month in for a bite hold. Those are some vicious little fuckers.
