Re: Diseased and Deformed People From Africa
Very true, M. Alain, and very sad. And for many it is not an issue of not having money, very many people in the world--including some in the United States--do not have any reasonable access to healthcare. A friend spent several years as a physician on an American Indian reservation. He said many of the people he treated were old but he was the first medical doctor they had ever seen. And when my grandparents were young adults, it was common for rural people to live their lives and die without ever seeing a physician. Scientific medicine--evidence-based medicine--was still new then. When my own father was young, the only medicines that were known were aspirin for pain and sulfa powder for infection. We who live in the industrialized world with access to healthcare are very lucky for that. (Though it comes with other costs.) |

Re: Diseased and Deformed People From Africa
I was just about to ask whats going on over there to cause this high rate of cancers. I know that they look so bad because theyre so poor they can only let it run its fucked up course until it kills them. We don't get to see untreated end stage cancer very much and its terrifying. Bad enough what it does to your insides but then it has to disfigure you as well. FUCK cancer
