I remember reading about this a while back. Apparently the same gene or something like that that is responsible for one eye, is also responsible for the development of the second half of the brain, the half which is responsible for conciousness among other things. Apparently babies that are born with cyclopia are not able to be concious but will basically live, but not for long. truly sad. the other picture i had seen was from a baby born in a Spanish country (spain i think)
