his or her body is so emaciated, that the head looks larger by comparison. an iv in the scalp vein is not unusual in babies and small children, i remember my youngest had one when he had neonatal jaundice. when veins in arms and hands are too tiny, or sclerosed, (scarred), or collapsed, or infiltrated, they will put an iv in almost anywhere. i've had them in my ankle and neck. |
