I can explain.
Besides the facebook post anyways.
This person had an injury where there was missing skin on the fingers.
This is an old medical tactic dating back to WW2 they use in order to re-granulate/regrow skin where skin is missing.

It works, but the down side is, the appendage or whatever part has to be sewn under the skin and left there for several weeks.

Also, this is sewn to a stomach, not a back. (Note the navel/belly button. )
