Re: Bitten by Her Pitbulls
Spuds was/is a "Bull Terrier". That is a different breed than the "American Pit Bull Terrier". The BT has PB in it, heavily, but also has other breeds, such as Dalmatian - in its foundation. They are also dog aggressive and can't be trusted with other dogs. They weren't used for dog fighting, but since they have a fighting breed in them, they are just as likely to break out into a deadly fight with another dog. I personally know a woman who breeds and shows Bull Terriers. I think they're funny looking. I prefer the APBT look. The normal one, not the Bully one that looks like a hippopotamus on steroids. |

Re: Bitten by Her Pitbulls
They stitched her up the same night, but infection set in (who would've thought!) so now she has been in the hospital since the day after. I have a hard time with pits as my lovely sister's pit killed my Shitzu who was 14 yrs old who was minding her business. That pit was a nuisance and was mean. Hell. I was even afraid to come in the house late at night fearing that she'd come after me! She finally put the damn thing down after killing a cat who was sleeping!!!! So, yes it's all in the owners, but pitbulls do NOT have my sympathy!!

Re: Bitten by Her Pitbulls
Your niece bought two more from the same parents as the one she put down? That's terrifying. Mine is predatory towards animals and would kill every cat she had the ability to come into contact with. If she saw a sleeping cat, she would still get it. It's my job to keep that from happening. People have cats running loose and have no problem with them killing other animals. They don't freak out and have the cat put down because "what if that bird had been a child?!" Dogs killing animals is not in any way tied to human aggression. All terrier breeds are notorious for loving to kill other animals. That's what they were created for and is to be expected AND managed responsibly. Now, if the dog is also sketchy/fearful/shy/aggressive towards people, that is a serious problem. I would never go back to the same place and get TWO more. |

Re: Bitten by Her Pitbulls
Two pit bulls fully engaged in a fight often won't react to water, yelling, beating or any other method, other than hands-on separation. Two people and a break stick are what's needed for that job. A break stick is a flat, wedged stick that you put in their mouth and twist to open the jaws and release their grip. It doesn't hurt them. You put it in the space behind their teeth. |

Re: Bitten by Her Pitbulls
This is too comical lol Any dog can attack etc... Honestly people. Also, there's no such thing as a "purebred" dog. Majority of these "purebred" dogs were genetically created within the last 100 years and inbred beyond belief lol |

All dogs are capable of injurying anybody. But from my own experience I'll hands down have to give a big |

Re: Bitten by Her Pitbulls
That's how you make a breed. You lock in traits with inbreeding and line breeding until you get them to breed true(consistent characteristics). It doesn't take very long to accomplish that. Less than 100 years. Way less. That's what a "breed" is. And yes, there are purebred dogs. Species and races are something different than breeds. |
