she blinks, and is breathing as if she has cried herself into exhaustion. she even responds to the folks touching her, i think she is just so tired, crying for her life, that she has nothing left now that she is (hopefully) safe!! maybe brain damage....but maybe not!! mother indeed should have been left to bleed to death.
