Arterovenous Fistula on Arm
This fistula was formed after an accidentally self-inflicted stab wound healed. This photo was taken by my mother, who works in hospital. The patient was a butcher, stabbed himself during work a few years ago, and after the wound had healed, the fistula continued to grow.

Re: Arterovenous Fistula on Arm
A fistula is an abnormal connection between an organ, vessel, or intestine and another structure. Fistulas are usually the result of injury or surgery. It can also result from infection or inflammation.

Re: Arterovenous Fistula on Arm
I had one of these, tho not on my arm. Once one forms you HAVE to have surgery to fix it. IN parts of Africa these are rampant among rape victims. ANd sometimes there is a foul(or sometimes no smell) smelling infection that oozes from it. The surgeon said the one I had was "impressive". It had a hole in it and the fistula would fill with bloody fluid that i constantly had to drain b4 surgery. One time i was so fed up with it that I got a syringe(feeding syringe, no needle) and injected peroxide into it and when I did that , it came out other places. Was one of the weirdest things I've had. |
