Eh. Not to derail my own thread, because I'd really rather not. These side debates can spiral out of control quickly and ruin a good thread.

But just fwiw, unbiased statistics have demonstrated for 30 years that states in the US with capital punishment do not have commensurately lower crime rates than states without. It has never been determined to have any unique effect on lowering crime. It is also extremely expensive to carry-out and during the legal process prior to carrying out.

But most importantly, the justice system in any particular country is too fallible to use the law responsibly.

When your prosecutorial system is built upon closing cases to further your career, your police system is rife with corruption, graft, and incompetence, sound legal counsel is brutally expensive for a regular citizen to afford, and your jury in any given case is going to include at least 5 people who earnestly believed Donald Trump was a stellar president...

The odds of state-sanctioned murder mistakenly or expediently taking an innocent man's life become too high for anyone with a conscience to condone.

Even in 'cut and dried' cases with evidence (which can be planted) and a confession (which can be falsified or coerced), there are too many potential pitfalls. And, as a taxpayer and voter, I never wish to be in any way complicit in the government I pay for taking a man's life unjustly.

I get that the human sense of 'revenge' and 'punishment' is a strong one. I understand the base-level appeal to executing bad people.

But the system is ruthlessly flawed in any country where it exits. Note that with the exception of the US, it generally only even exists at all in countries that are considered brutal, third-world shitholes.

Trust me, it ain't all it's cracked up to be.

Ah yes, I didn't have the thought of it being a deterrent for crime (though it would be for some), but like you said, it's about revenge. Maybe because I'm just a very bitter person + think that people should get what they deserve for their wrongdoings.

But yes, you're very much correct; countries that do have the death penalty, still have constant crime + then there's also the fact that sometimes, the wrong person has been convicted.

According to an Indonesian news I read, the first girl was actually a call girl whom he met through social media. They agreed upon a price of 69USD for a good fuck, but after the job was done, she demanded double the amount. He was enraged by this and decided to kill and rob her out of her belongings instead. The first girl was only 18 y.o.

The second woman was reported to be a widow with one kid. Sad that she resorted to find this kind of guy after a divorce.
