Young woman's body was found this morning at a junction of two highways. The photos aren't spectacular (Mexico's censorship is a misery), but there are enough that I decided to post. Maybe more will surface. One of the main news agencies I follow apparently posted better photos earlier in the day, but her family went batshit and lodged complaints so they got censored.

Initial reports posited that she was shot to death, but they were determined to be incorrect. Her cause of death was listed as "mechanical asphyxiation due to ligature" and the garrote, whatever it was, was still around her neck when she was discovered.

The scene description I got from a reporter I spoke with stated that she was 5ft 4in and approximately 135 pounds with blonde hair. One of her feet was bare and the other had a black-and-purple sock that was rolled halfway down. She had on (very tight) green shorts, red panties, a black bra, and a long-sleeved grey pajama top. Her hands had previously been tied, but the cord was only attached to one wrist when she was discovered. Her tongue was protruding, which is not uncommon with ligature strangulations, and she had 'lost sphincter control' (also common in asphyxiation deaths, though I don't see evidence of it in the photos). She exhibited no signs of sexual trauma, but had several bruises on her torso which were associated with being punched or kicked. I pressed him on the type of ligature, but he didn't identify it beyond referring to it as a 'torniquete.'

No motive or suspects are known, but her father was murdered 3 years earlier and he likely had ties to the drug trade.

It's something that gets mentioned periodically and handled differently by country. The Latins seem, in most cases, to use it interchangeably for losing control of the bladder or the bowels, sometimes both. Usually both. It isn't typically mentioned in published reports in Latin America, but I always ask about it when interviewing reporters or investigators and am getting scene details to post here, especially when they're still trying to ascertain the cause of death.

In Indonesia, for example, they're more publicly specific and will often call direct attention to defecation at a suicide scene (colloquially referred to as 'putting out the dirt') and reference it separately from urination even if both are present.

Most reports I get don't mention it at all and either dodge it in my list of questions or are unable to answer in direct interviews.

When I get a talkative reporter to accompany a photoset, though, I typically try to get as much detail as possible because it makes the posts here more interesting. I wound up discussing one case I posted here with an investigator from Guatemala for almost three hours.

Why do so many of the blokes here have to go down the 'sexual road'? Just because she's a woman, doesn't mean that her death was sex-related, nor that she deserved to die even if it was.

I'd take a wild guess + say that it's a big possibility that her death is linked to her father's.
