At least she didn't harm the kids.
Not physically anyway. Emotionally is unclear, though I'm pretty sure you can't be 100% okay after learning that your parent hung themselves.

it is a plausible idea actually... ive heard some in the same predicament like this.

highly prevented from seeing their child, they often leave words that "you will all miss me when im gone".
A person has to be stable enough to stand on their own and realize no bad situation is for ever . Being impulsive and feeling sorry for ones self doesn't lend itself to good parenting . I guess that's why the world is full of head Dr's and prisons .
