She’s a child. She shouldn’t be seen as criminally responsible at 12. I personally don’t think the Bulger killers should have been tried as adults either. The brain at 10, 12 is nowhere near developed enough to comprehend these kinds of decisions or the consequences on any real level.

A child at 12 can be seriously messed in the head, but how that’s treated and dealt with should be entirely different to an adult.

What should we do with children who commit murder then? Let them go free? A child who's capable of killing someone isn't right in the head, they should be punished for what they did.

Not let off, just treated differently. It’s about the approach and treatment. The Bulger killers should never have had their details released to the public.

This story about a similar case in Norway at around the same time shows how differently their system dealt with it.

Sorry, I've got to disagree with you about the Bulger killers. Absolutely it was right to be told their names + shown their faces. They committed an appalling crime against an innocent toddler.

What fucks me off more is that they were both given new identities + their whereabouts were not given to anyone. Imagine you had had a relationship with one of those 2 for years on end, only to discover their identity. How would that make you feel knowing that you've been intimate with a murderer, maybe even had children with them or they've been in your child's life. Those 2 fuckers should never have been protected, innocent children are what need protecting.

That Venables piece of shit has been arrested several times over disgusting images of children, he's even had a relationship with at least one woman. I'm glad that his face has been plastered everywhere but it's a piss-take that anyone who posts it will be prosecuted!

The Bulger case was utterly sickening. I remember it well from the time. It got huge publicity at the time, but it isn’t the first time children have killed. It’s rare, but it happens. The debate around criminal responsibility has raged ever since and there are good arguments on both sides.

Don’t get me wrong, place me in that situation and it was my child they hurt, you’d have to literally kill me to stop me if I ever got my hands on them, but the law has to be objective and take a more rational viewpoint. It has to.

Cases like these are so rare, emotion must be taken out of the equation and the age of the perpetrators must be taken into consideration when deciding how they are dealt with.

Yes, I remember when it happened very well too, I was coming up to 10 years old at the time + even then I thought it was such a vile thing + couldn't understand how 2 children, practically my age, could do such a thing. Sickos like those should never be allowed to roam the streets again.

How about Mary Bell? She was an evil little girl, she killed 2 little boys back in the 60s'. She should never have been let free. She was a cold, evil little shit. Yes she was abused as a child, but so have thousands of others, they didn't turn into killers.
