This young couple had pulled up at a red light when a gray car that had apparently been following them pulled up alongside. Several men in the gray car opened fire on the couple's vehicle, riddling it with at least 30 bullets according to the police report.

The car sped off and bystanders rushed to help the couple who had been fired upon. Both had been shot multiple times. The woman was pronounced dead as they loaded her into the ambulance and the man died a few minutes later at the hospital.

I just spent about an hour going through both victims' Facebook pages. their friends and family are quite confused about their death, as am I, to be entirely frank.

After doing this for over 15 years now, I sort of feel like you usually get into a rhythm of comprehension for what sort of people wind up shot 30 times at a traffic light in front of a bus stop. Especially when given their last several years in photos and posts.

But these two seemed utterly and completely normal. Both in their early 20s, married shortly after high school. 10 month old son. Their social media history is full of birthday parties, family gatherings, low budget but heartfelt vacations to the beach, enjoying burger nights together. Lots of hand-holding and cuddling on park benches or porch swings. Clearly not starving in abject poverty, but not splashing around ostentatious wealth either. No flash cars, no guns, no big jewelry. Just a loving young couple spending time together with their friends and family.

The friends are all normal. Nurses, secretaries, college students, auto mechanics. All fairly cleancut, normal looking family people. They're all puzzled and horrified and seem to regard the incident as utterly random. Neither of the two people had any sort of criminal record or gang history. They were just enjoying a Friday night out together for dinner and drinks while grandma babysat their kid at home.



Obviously social media doesn't show everything. But after many years of investigating and researching these cases, I feel that these two had absolutely nothing anywhere in their history to explain this sort of demise.

Maybe it just really was a case of random murder. It's always our go to on here, with deaths from certain countries, to assume why people were killed. Places like Mexico + Brazil, it's usually drugs or jilted ex-lovers, but occasionally it is a random senseless death.

It's a massive shame if this was just random. As you've said, a young couple with a baby, leading a seemingly normal life (+ also their friends + family) - what a sad loss for those who knew them.

Or maybe a robbery gone wrong?

Additional witness statements have been provided now, which changes the narrative a bit.

According to bystanders, the men in the grey car opened fire on the couple while both vehicles were still in motion. The white car, driven by the victims, pulled up to a stoplight next to a taxi stand and the female passenger tried to flee on foot.

Several assailants stayed in the car, firing into the driver's side of the victim's vehicle, but one shooter exited the grey car and ran around to the passenger side specifically to intercept the female passenger. Witnesses said he shot her several times in the back and then she dropped prone, at which point he got back in his vehicle and the grey car sped off.

You can see in the first photo that there is some blood on the back of the passenger seat, though not much. There is also urine on the seat itself, which matches the stain on the female victim's jeans. So likely she was was lightly injured by one or two shots and wet herself in fear/panic rather than after she died. They didn't fire the fatal shots until she tried to exit, at which point she received several more, a few of them lethal.

All that said, getting out and chasing the girl down seems a bit heavy-handed for a random attack or robbery, especially when they didn't take anything.

Who knows. Maybe the two were up to some dirty business after all. Those shooters absolutely wanted her dead, at least.
