I just showed these pics to hubby and he said that would have happened really fast as those lathes move fast. I hope to God he's right, because that one eyeball staring up gives me the shivers. Poor, poor guy.
The poster who suggested tear away clothing should patent that idea. I don't know why that hasn't been done before. Brilliant idea.
I work as a machinist, so i have quite a lot of experience on lathes. Based on the size of the workpiece and the positions of the levers i'd say he was doing about 800 - 1000 RPM's. @ those speeds lathe can easily turn into a flail as pieces of metal / plastic start spinning with the workpiece, IMHO the guy was reckless to wear such loose clothing, and no plexishield either...
